Disney Side Mike vs. Sulley

**I received free products in order to host the Disney Side @Home Celebration.  The opinions expressed here are my own.
A football birthday party is a fun, but pretty typical.  A Monster's U Football birthday party is not as common and takes the fun up a notch.  Thanks to DisneySide @Home Celebrations and MomSelect we were able to host such an awesome party, complete with lots of goodies and a couple of fun cheerleaders.

All the boys were happy to show their #DisneySide as they competed on Team Mike or Team Sully in a fun game of flag football.  We divided the boys in to two teams and gave them either blue or green t-shirts (the cool new suitcase from American Tourister was very handy in transporting and handing out all those shirts). Once the boys were divided up the games began.

After a little football we came in for some sandwiches and cake, it's fun to see 8 year old boys get giddy about eating Mickey Mouse shaped sandwiches.  After refueling they headed back outside for some more football.

We had some games set-up inside for those boys who lost interest in the football game or needed to get warmed up.  The Disney Bingo wasn't a big hit with this group, but "Scare Sully" was a huge hit.  The boys loved being able to yell at top of their lungs while throwing bean bags at  a pile of blocks topped with Sully.

Toward the end of the party, as the parents started arriving, we started the Disney Vacation planning DVD.  Everyone had a great time comparing Disney stories and we were thrilled to talk about our recent Disney.  It is always fun to see how animated some people become when the subject of Disney comes up.  Many of the younger siblings were happy to leave sporting a new Goofy tattoo.  And, more than a few kids left asking when they could go to Disney

We had a wonderful time and look forward to showing our DisneySide again in a few weeks when we celebrate my daughter's 5th birthday.

We thank all the sponsors for providing this opportunity

Week 1 - Warm

I had a lot of ideas for the "warm" challenge, but for the first week I decided to go with something nice and easy and made a couple neck warmers for my husband.  I had made a bunch of these as holiday gifts and they were a big hit.  I failed to make one for Marshall and have been hearing about it all week, so to stop his bellyaching I quickly whipped a couple up for him

These can be made in any size and  are a great way to use up the scraps in your fabric stash.  You can heat them in the microwave for a minute or two and use to ease sore muscles or kept in the freezer for emergency boo boos.  I filled these warmers with rice, scented with a little lavender oil, but you can also use wheat and different oils, based on your preference.

As I said these are super easy to put together and you can easily make 5 or 6 in 30 or 40 minutes.

Cut 2 pieces of fabric, or use one piece folded in half.  6x20 (12x20 if using a single piece) is a good size and works well when using fat quarters.

With right sides together sew the long side(s) and one short side.  Turn right side out and press, folding the open edge in to create a clean edge.

Using a funnel add scented rice, I used about 3 cups of rice.

Sew open edge closed.

To use heat in microwave for 1-2 minutes, or keep in freezer

Now it's your turn to share.

January Challenge

Here is the list for the January Challenge.  The themes are pretty broad with lots of room for interpretation. I look forward to seeing what everybody comes up with!
